Module Description:To continue the expansion of students' communicative competences through register development and heightened language awareness. This course aims to develop students' confidence in their ability to communicate through Spanish speakers.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Interact in spoken Spanish in situations relevant to preparing a study period in Spain.
  2. Understand and reproduce features of Spanish pronunciation.
  3. Practice authentic aural and written material.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of aspects of Spanish and Latin American culture and society. Compare and contrast these aspects with Irish culture and society.
  5. Write a reflective journal and descriptive texts of approximately 250-300 words.

• Rental Accomodation • Describing a house, furniture and appliances • Daily tasks and domestic chores • Transport • Expressing wishes, hopes, emotions and opinions • Culture: housing, family life
The following grammar elements will be taught in context
• Reflexive verbs, Possessive pronouns, Preterite tense (Irregular verbs) • Imperfect tense; preterite v. imperfect . Future and conditional. • Present subjunctive (introduction)
