Module Description:The aim of this module is to: • Introduce the students to the concepts of Resource Planning through operations simulations in both manufacturing and service sectors • Familiarize the students with a practical MRP system. • To understand the parameters operational efficiencies.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Analyse the operation of an ERP system.
  2. Design a Manual ERP system
  3. Operate computer based ERP system - SAP.
  4. Evaluate the operation of a customer management system

Learning and Teaching methods
This subject will be taught 50% through lectures and 50% in Computer Laboratory Sessions using SAP
The Enterprise Resource Planning System
o Master Planning. o Demand Forecasting. o Generation of the Master Schedule. o The Bill of Materials. o Capacity Planning. o Rough Cut Capacity Planning. o Capacity Requirements Planning.
Outputs from the MRP system
o Production Activity Control and Input – Output Control. o Purchasing output from the scheduling system. o Variance and reports for over due items.
