Module Description:The aim of the Erasmus English course is to improve students’ general proficiency in English, with particular emphasis on oral fluency, presentation skills and intercultural competence.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Make a presentation in English
  2. Lead a discussion in English and engage in wide-ranging discussion of topics studied
  3. Work and solve problems with students of other nationalities
  4. Understand a range of complex listening material including conversations, lectures, extracts from T.V. and radio
  5. Read and understand texts from a range of non-fiction and fiction sources.
  6. Produce e-mails, formal and informal pieces of writing in the appropriate register
  7. Use a range of grammatical and lexical structures.

Reading and understanding a variety of text-types; reading strategies; reading for gist and detail
Subskills
Grammar and lexis will be included in the presentations and recycled in class in various tasks; Pronunciation will be taught retrospectively as it arises
