Module Description:This module will facilitate the student to develop skills in evaluating nursing / midwifery and health related research literature.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Critically appraise research studies with particular reference to their strengths, limitations and implications for the profession.
  2. Evaluate specific designs and methods relevant to the field of nursing/midwifery.
  3. Critically analyse and synthesise evidence relevant to particular topics and present that evidence in a logical and structured manner.

Continuous Assessment The continuous assessment component will normally consist of the production of 8 annotated bibliographies (Total word count 2,500 words). Having identified an area that requires investigation, the bibliographies will represent a critical appraisal of key pieces of primary research related to the area and which assist in identifying a gap in the literature for future research.
