Module Description:The student will be able to apply theoretical and practical workshop concepts and practices in relation to manual handling, health and safety, fabrication and machinery operation and maintenance
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Demonstrate a knowledge of tractor engines and transmissions systems
  2. Demonstrate a range of workshop skills with due regard to workshop health and safety.
  3. Operate and maintain tractors
  4. Demonstrate correct manual handling techniques.

Indicative Content
Knowledge
Engine systems and how they operate. Working principles of 4 stroke diesel and petrol engines. Working principles of tractor transmission and hydraulic systems. Safety and legal requirements for tractors used on public roads.
Skills
Acquire a range of safety procedures and workshop skills to enable the learner to complete tractor and other machinery maintenance tasks. Develop the ability to safely attach an implement and operate a tractor with/ without a loader. Enable the learner to apply safe manual handling techniques when working
