Module Description:The focus of this module is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills to implement basic service user care.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Demonstrate safe drug administration
  2. Demonstrate principles of wound management
  3. Demonstrate maintenance of nutrition status
  4. Demonstrate effective airway management
 

Module Content & Assessment

Indicative Content
Administration of medication
Interpretation of drug kardex. Identifying; dose, route, method, and administration/application of medication, including safe storage and disposal.
Principles of wound management
Clean/aseptic techniques and the correct application of wound management strategies.
Maintenance of nutrition status
Provision of altered or augmented diets, PEG and NG feeding.
Airway management
Suction techniques and oxygen administration.
