Module Description:This stage four, 36 week long internship module will facilitate the student under minimal directive cues, to integrate the clinical skills, knowledge and attitudes associated with an autonomous practitioner.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Proficiently practice nursing care (minimal directive cues) encompassing professional standards of clinical practice and professional conduct.
  2. Communicate effectively with service users, families, preceptors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team using verbal and nonverbal communication.
  3. Synthesise the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to organise, prioritise and co-ordinate individualised nursing care appropriate to stage four - independent participant of the programme.
  4. Utilise evidence based practice to continuously develop care delivery.
  5. Through reflection, critically appraise their professional conduct and practice to enhance continuous professional development.

Performance Evaluation The student will normally undertake 36 weeks of internship during stage four of the programme. The placement is assessed by clinical preceptors using the clinical assessment workbook and is based on a pass/fail basis. Credits will be awarded only when the student has completed a minimum of 90% of placement and submitted a completed clinical assessment workbook.
