On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Communicate both face to face and electronically with native speakers on topics such as personal circumstances and interests.
  2. Understand the main points of clear standard speech on a range of familiar topics.
  3. Plan structure and produce a short piece of writing in French.
  4. Demonstrate comprehension of short documents.
  5. Understand the principle of syllabic equality in French pronounciation.
  6. Describe aspects of contemporary French society.

Fundamentals of grammar: present indicative articles, nouns & adjectives, negation & question, prepositions
French for general purposes
Greetings & introduction, Talking about yourself, your hobbies, Describing where you live, weather, Dates, Times, Numbers, introduction to the geography of France, French traditions: Bank holidays & symbols
