Module Description:The aim of the clinical placement in stage 4 internship is to consolidate learning regarding general nursing theory and practice in preparation for the student’s role as a registered nurse. The internship placement provides the student with a continuous period of exposure to the clinical setting so that the learner continues to develop confidence and competence in the practice of nursing, whilst applying theoretical concepts and principles to nursing practice at an proficient level of competence.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Safely and effectively prioritises and delivers safe effective patient care in an organised and time efficient manner with minimal supervision.
  2. Demonstrates competence in the skills outlined in the skills inventory for stage 3 and 4 and is successful in the medication management assessment.
  3. Communicate effectively and sensitively relevant information both verbally and through written documentation with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
  4. Reflect on practice identifying deficits in one's own knowledge and skills and seeks opportunities to address these.Contributes to the education and learning needs of patients, families and colleagues

Performance Evaluation Learning outcomes will be assessed by means of evaluation of practice performance and skills. Workbook Pass/Fail. Also, Students will be required to reflect on topics relevant in the context of internship. Students will keep a written record of this reflection. Student’s reflective thinking will be augmented and consolidated by means of protected group reflection discussions.
