Module Description:The aim of this module is for students to gain a deeper theoretical and methodological understanding of the social and cultural functions of the media.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of key concepts in the study of media culture and society
  2. Deconstruct and critique news stories from a variety of news sources.
  3. Comprehend and critically analyse the relationship of the media with contemporary representations of Gender and Sexuality
  4. Critique contemporary and historical theories on impact of technology on society
