Module Description:Students completing this module will work independently, with appropriate supervision, on a substantial project, that demonstrates a thorough understanding of research and development processes. They will analyse, design, implement and test a substantial software application/prototype in a specific application domain. They will also produce well-structured project documentation and present it appropriately.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Work independently on a substantial project which will involve estimating, planning and managing their time effectively.
  2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the research and development process.
  3. Analyse, design and implement a substantial software application/prototype using a structured methodology to solve a problem in an identified problem area.
  4. Produce well-structured project documentation, written in clear and concise language, which communicates their findings effectively and coherently.
  5. Demonstrate, discuss and defend their project in an oral/practical presentation.
