Module Description:The aim of the module is to provide the student with a detailed understanding of the pre and post contract administrational roles and responsibilities of all the parties to the construction contract.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Explain and evaluate the different procurement methods that can be selected.
  2. Explain the tendering procedure used in the selection of contractors.
  3. Explain how a project is administered with reference to Standard Forms of Contract.
  4. Explain the role of Project Supervisor Construction Project (PSCS) in Health and Safety matters on site.

Procurement Methods
Evaluation of the various procurement methods in contracts- Traditional, Management Contracting, Contract Management, Design and Build, Partnering.
Tendering Procedure
Pre-tendering options and procedures. Tender process and associated documentation; Post Tender reporting
Post Contract Cost Control and Payment
Preparing and processing Interim and final Payments; Study of clauses relating to payments, archtects instructions; Financial Cost Control pre and post contract (cost plan estimates, sources of cost information; cost reports)

Students will be given an opportunity to remediate part or all of their CA performance by the autumn/repeat examination boards by repeating part or all of the same or similar CA.
