Module Description:The student will undergo a supervised placement in a veterinary clinic or hospital in order to gain experience of the role of veterinary nurse and to develop the practical competencies required by the profession. Two weeks of the placement may be spent in a related industry.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Contribute to patient care as a member of a veterinary practice team
  2. Identify and exhibit the communication and personal skills necessary to work within such an environment
  3. Be able to link and apply, skillfully and with confidence, the skills and knowledge learned on the course to the practice environment
  4. Be able to carry out all of the practical tasks in the Skills List
  5. Apply the analytical / health and safety protocols and regulatory obligations of their employer
  6. Accept responsibility for their own work, reflect on their own practices and behave ethically in a work environment

Internship
Students must work on an full-time basis for 12 weeks in an approved veterinary practice. Up to two weeks may be spent in a related industry.
Assessment
This module is assessed on a pass/fail basis. Students must pass the Work Supervisor Report and complete the Skills List.
