Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Identify the sounds and tones of Mandarin in PINYIN system.
  2. Recognise PINYIN spelling, 100 characters, words and numbers learned in class.
  3. Write 50 Simplified Chinese characters with correct stokes.
  4. Repeat, retell and recite learned words and sentences.
  5. Memorise simple social etiquette and custom in Chinese culture
  6. Discuss the differences between Chinese and Irish culture

Chinese PINYIN phonetic system; Asking about names and nationalities; Counting numbers; Chinese radicals and Chinese character; Describing families and hobbies; Expressing thanks; Greeting/saying goodbye; Talking about time/week
