Module Description:The aim of this module is to enable the students to understand the contractual obligations of all parties and to enable them to fulfil the contractual obligations of the contractor.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Analyse and apply contractual obligations at all stages of the contract
  2. Examine and implement procedures for managing payments and cash flow throughout the construction duration
  3. Analyse cost control techniques used throughout the construction duration
 

Module Content & Assessment

Indicative Content
Contractural Obligations:
Roles and responsibilities of main-contractor and sub-contractors under alternative forms of contract
Payments:
Managing interim payments, final accounts, retention, expenditure of provisional sums, prime cost sums and contingency at main-contract and sub-contract level
Cost Control:
Cost and risk management; management of contract changes; cash flow; cost control; cost reporting. All at main-contract and sub-contract level.

Reassessment of this module will consist of a repeat examination. It is possible that there will also be a requirement to be reassessed in a coursework element.
Reassessment Description
Students shall be given the opportunity to re-attempt the recoverable elements of their CA. Students iwll be given an opportunity to remediate part or all of their CA.
