Module Description:The aim of this module is to enable students to evaluate and apply project performance management techniques to complex projects.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Critically appraise Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used in construction project management
  2. Apply specialist software to produce construction management planning documents to industry standards
  3. Analyse output of software analysis and evaluate project performance

Indicative Content
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Identify and define KPIs including safety, time & cost predictability, client satisfaction, productivity, profitability and defects ; apply KPIs in project management context, measuring performance internally & externally establishing benchmarks.
Project Management Techniques
Planning of efficient and effective time, cost and resource management; reflect upon CIOB Codes of Practice in management.Pre-tender, pre-contract and contract planning. Sequencing of construction operations. Master and target progammes.
Project Management Tools
The application of project planning tools to produce Bar & Gantt charts, space-time diagrams, target completion time and line of balance diagrams, network diagrams - activity on arrow & precedence diagrams, critical path analysis, project evaluation and review techniques (PERT), resource profiles, text based plans - constuction method statements, lists and schedules.
Evaluation of Project Management
Benchmark performance against programme planning and best practice; evaluation and production of project performance reports.
