Module Description:This module shall enable the students to evaluate and apply the health and safety practices that need to be implemented in order to create a safe place of work, particularly on construction sites.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Identify and categorise risks associated with construction work and create an appropriate risk assessment plan.
  2. Examine data and evaluate the causes and effects of accident related to construction works.
  3. Compare and contrast organisational cultures and systems to establish how they can enhance organisational commitment to health and safety.

Indicative Content
Implementation of legislation and practice
Examine the risk assessment process and examine duties placed on each party. Prepare a risk assessment, apply health and safety standards.
Work Practices
Promote safe and ethical work practices; set standards for health and safety excellence. Review statistical data identifying causes of accidents and effects.
Ethos of Health and Safety
Examine organisational culture and systems in the context of embedding health and safety and welfare practices; Evaluate the commitment of resources as a representation of the commitment of the organisation to health safety and welfare
