Module Description:The building adaptation project overall, is an individual student applied project which aims to bring together many elements of the building surveying practice encompassed by the course. It will allow the student to demonstrate their capability to apply in an individual and integrated manner the academic concepts, theoretical insights and practical abilities acquired on the course. Students prepare initially a developmental report including evaluation of the site, building and location followed by a feasibility report prior to undertaking building refurbishment work.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to
  1. Demonstrate commercial, innovative, technical, practical, logical and critical awareness in terms of redeveloping or altering existing buildings.
  2. Prepare and write a development appraisal report for refurbishment of an existing building.
  3. Prepare and write a feasibility report for refurbishment of an existing building.
  4. Verbally and visually present findings in a concise and professional manner.

Students will be provided with suitable building information. Development Potential Report including a building evaluation incorporating site, building and location issues.
Feasibility Report
Feasibility Report including: Client and user requirements and formulation of briefs; property status analysis; refurbishment alternatives and evaluation.
