Academic reading. Reading critically. Reading extensively at C2 level. Reading theses and 4th-year projects. Reading about research topics, questions, methods, techniques, and ethics.
Writing
Layout of a thesis/dissertation or 4th-year project. Developing ideas. Supporting claims with reference to literature. Discussing data. Discussing analysis. Writing a conclusion. Adhering to conventions.
Speaking
Discussing your project – your research questions, your research design, data, analysis, and findings, and limitations, and ethical issues. Using advanced vocabulary, grammar and idiomatic language in your spoken English.
Listening
Listening to researchers discuss their research methods, data, analysis and findings. Advanced listening to non-academic texts (C2 level)
Grammar
Adverbial clauses and conjunctions. Advanced prepositions. Organising information: There is/was, etc.; Focusing it-clauses and what-clauses; inversion.
Vocabulary
Academic vocabulary for organising your writing; discussing data, findings and analysis; limitations; ethics; classifying; making connections; comparing and contrasting; describing change; evaluation and emphasis; summary and conclusion.
Strategy Training
