Module Description: The work placement is a key element of the student's learning experience. The main aim of work placement is for students to gain practical experience in a supported and professional environment of an appropriate work field. The placement is an opportunity for students to apply theory to practice, develop their professionalism and to engage in a process of self-awareness and reflective practice under the supervision of a dedicated work supervisor.

Pre-Work Placement Requirements
The Placement Officer will timetable 4 compulsory pre-placement workshops. Students must attend and complete associated activities on Moodle including sign Terms & Conditions of placement, complete Professional Profile, upload CV and Sign Code of Conduct.These workshops take place in semester 5 ( prior to placement). These workshops are mandatory to attend should a student wish to participate in Work Placement in semester 6. It is also a requirement that students complete all required documentation and assignments as set out in the workshops.

Work Placement Recall Day
Through a guided reflective process the student will be asked to share their placement experiences to date - focusing on transitions to the work place, key achievements, challenges, sharing strategies for the work place and setting goals for remaining period on work placement.
Placement Visits
Each Placement student will receive a placement visit from a DkIT Lecturer/ Tutor over the course of their placement.

Assessment Description
Reflective Learning Portfolio As part of students’ work placement they are expected to prepare a Reflective Learning Portfolio comprising a reflective piece of writing which critically evaluates the learning from the work placement in terms of personal growth and professional development. The portfolio must also include Work Placement Records & Documentation. including - Pre Placement Reflection - Learning Contract - Induction Checklist - Student Progress Report (mid way) - Hours Record - Placement Verification Form.

Assessment Description
The DkIT tutor in close collaboration with the host organisation work supervisor will have resonsibility for assessing the students progress whilst out on placement. Each tutor will discuss a standard assessment framework with the supervisor which they must complete and submit to the DkIT placement officer. The supervisor will assess the students progress within the provided evaluation framework and allocate an appropriate grade.

Assessment Description
Students should critically reflect on one particular aspect of their work placement (eg. campaign, MarComm activity, new biz development, etc.) and present this learning through an oral presentation.

Reattendance
The assessment of this module is inextricably linked to the delivery. Therefore reassessment on this module will require the student to reattend (i.e. retake) the module in its entirety.
