Module Description: The aim of this module is to equip the student with the necessary communicative skills for working in a French speaking environment and to broaden the students’ understanding of French society and culture.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO2 Lead and engage in discussion on a wide range of contemporary topics.
MLO3 Identify their grammatical weaknesses and apply strategies to eliminate them.
MLO4 Answer questions on material from authentic audiovisual sources.
MLO5 Demonstrate understanding of authentic articles from the French press.
MLO6 Compare and contrast aspects of French and Irish culture and business both orally and in writing.

Relative clauses; Direct object pronouns; Future tenses; Grammar covered during previous semesters will be revised & consolidated as part of coursework on an ongoing basis.
French for general purposes
Introduction to French film/literary vocabulary; Current affairs (using radio and television recordings); Study of a French film; Compare and contrast the French and Irish education systems
