Module Description: This module introduces students to theoretical debates about the social role and function of literature. It reviews debates about the social and political influence of cultural texts. It examines a wide variety of case-studies in order to theorize on the role of culture as a transmitter of individual and communal values and identities.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
