Module Description: The aim of this module is to explore the archaeology of our nearest neighbour, Britain, from the earliest times to the present. The primary goal is to give a context to much of the material covered in relation to the archaeology of Ireland. While there are significant differences in the histories and archaeologies of various periods between these two islands, there are possibly many more instances of connections and similarities with many developments taking place on a much larger scale than is apparent from a reading of the Irish evidence in isolation.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO2 Assess the key monuments and landscape features associated with each broad phase of development.
MLO3 Evaluate the reasons for the emergence of particular monuments/features at particular times.
MLO4 Compare and contrast developments in particular periods with those in Ireland.
