Students will study various contemporary issues relating to sports and physycal activity in Ireland and globally.

Discuss how social class and class relations influence sports and sport participation, and national identity. |
MLO2 |
Assess the importance of social theories in their application to sport. |
MLO3 |
Compare and contrast the role of the media in organised sports. |
MLO4 |
Distinguish the complex issues relating to deviant behaviour in sports, and propose possible solutions to these issues. |
MLO5 |
Discuss the importance that sport plays to the national and international economy |
MLO6 |
Critically appraise the role that politics play in the organisation of national and international sports. |

An analysis of Drug use in sport. Critical appraisal of the evolution of on the field violence and off the field violence.

The role that sport plays in the Irish Economy.

Sport, Nationalism, Globalisation. An investigation of Irish and global examples.
