On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO3 Discuss defective products legislation, its European origins and its impact on business and enterprise.
MLO4 Explain the main types of business organisation and the legislation involved in corporate governance
MLO5 Explain the basic principles of the contract of employment and the rights and duties of the employer and employee.

Introduction to Business Organisations
Distinction between sole trader, partnership and company. Overview of incorporation of a business. Company law compliance in Ireland.
Employment Law
The contract of employment: the rights and duties of the employer and employee.
Data Protection Law
The scope and relevance of data protection law to businesses and consumers.
