Module Description: The purpose of this module is to equip students with the skills to carry out Effective Research, using appropriate sources and methods, in an ethically-sensitive manner in sports-related research fields.
Learners will learn about conducting primary research in sports-appropriate contexts. The module includes an overview of the principal methodologies and methods used in the field
and the ethical issues that arise in this kind of research. Throughout, the focus will be on practical applications of this knowledge as it relates to design and application of methods in the field.

Module Learning Outcome
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
# Module Learning Outcome Description
MLO1 Explain the core features of effective approaches to research
MLO2 Identify and justify appropriate contexts for the application of qualitative and quantitative methods
MLO3 Demonstrate appropriate ethical awareness in undertaking research
MLO4 Distinguish between different methodological approaches for gathering and assessing data
Pre-requisite learning
Module Recommendations
This is prior learning (or a practical skill) that is strongly recommended before enrolment in this module. You may enrol in this module if you have not acquired the recommended learning but you will have considerable difficulty in passing (i.e. achieving the learning outcomes of) the module. While the prior learning is expressed as named DkIT module(s) it also allows for learning (in another module or modules) which is equivalent to the learning specified in the named module(s).
