Students will be given the opportunity to plan, deliver and implement a sports/physical activity event aimed at a set target poulation.

Planning process
Project planning model: Idea formulation, feasibility studies, consultation exercise; development strategy, resource acquisition, team roles and responsibilities, detailed plans, contingencies, implementation, control and evaluation.
Planning: aims and objectives of national, regional and local plans, target markets.

Strategic Planning
Analysing the internal and external environment; identify goals; situational analysis; identifying policy trends; establishing and utilising networks; contingency planning; assigning key roles; organising project evaluation.

Funding
Current sources of funding; funding criteria; preparing a funding proposal; budgeting; presenting proposal and securing funding; managing contracts.
|
Resource Planning and Co-ordination
Time management techniques; financial control; HR planning; monitoring and controlling the project.
|
People Management
Effective leadership; motivation; role clarification; defining, directing and evaluating work; dealing with conflict.
|
Effectiveness
Programme: events, promotions, campaigns, sessions at venues, outreach activities, use of sporting personalities.
Aims and objectives; promotion of sport, growth in participation, publicity for minority sports, targeting of special groups, relationship to local regional and national strategy.
Project evaluation: monitoring, controlling and reviewing during project period, regular feedback; post project evaluation, evaluation data – income/expenditure; number of enquiries/attendances; follow-up research e.g. numbers joining local clubs; qualitative evidence e.g. satisfaction levels of clients; presentation and interpretation of data.
Appraisal: reflect on practice, effectiveness of self; recognise own strengths and weaknesses through consideration of own facilitation skills; reflect on the success of the project in achieving aims and objectives.
