Module Description: This module will be the initial contributor to students understanding of the history of youth work and how it has developed into a professional discipline. The key principles of youth work are discussed as are value systems that form youth work.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO2 Examine the role of national organisations, religious groups and other agencies and assess their effectiveness in the delivery of youth work services.
MLO3 Assess the key government polices which have shaped youth work.
MLO4 Evaluate current funding policy and how it is impacting on youth work today.
MLO5 Identify the key values and principles of youth work.
