On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Critical analysis of power and social-class:
Antonio Gramsci, Paulo Freire, Agusto Boal, Margaret Ledwith.
Identification of root causes of social injustice:
• International case-studies of social injustice • Creative and innovative case-studies of working to address social injustice (South and Central America)
Belonging and Identity in Community Youth Work:
• Who ‘fits in’ in a community, who doesn’t ‘fit in’? What it means to be ‘part of’ a community and what it means to not be ‘part of’ a community – Social cohesion – double edged sword
Social Exclusion:
• Who is ‘in’, who is ‘out’? • Symbolic and invisible boundaries and community
Critical Reflective Practice:
• Models of RP continued (Gibbs, Kolb, Rolfe) • Reflective Journal Writing
