Module Description: The Research Project module requires students to, apply practical research skills to a selected topic, demonstrate conceptual and critical thinking skills, present and justify the methodology, analysis and conclusions and communicate the work in a 15-20 thousand words dissertation.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO1 Initiate, plan and conduct a research project in the field of Computing
MLO2 Apply practical skills in the use of specialist tools and techniques together with a solid conceptual and practical understanding of development techniques and appropriate research methodologies
MLO3 Apply an inquiring, analytical, critical and creative approach to problem identification and solution
MLO4 Reason in a consistent and methodological manner at an abstract level and be able to argue rationally and draw independent conclusions based on a rigorous, analytical and critical approach to information
MLO5 Construct well-structured project documentation, written in clear and concise language, which communicates their findings effectively and coherently
MLO6 Defend the conclusion of the project and discuss future developments in an oral/practical presentation
