Module Indicative Content
Intercultural Competence
Students must attend and successfully complete the preparatory (that usually takes place in May) in order to be permitted to study abroad.
Reflective e-portfolio
The aim of the reflective log is to encourage students to fully integrate into the cultural and general community of the host country through applied research, and to evaluate their cultural and learning experience through a record of reflective practice. The reflective log should consist of regular reports that would form the basis for a reflective piece of writing or web product to be completed after the student's return to Ireland. The reflective learning log will account for 5 ECTS.
Research Project
Students will undertake a substantial research project, agreed with an academic tutor at DkIT and related to a module/ area of study at the partner college. The project will be submitted and orally defended at the end of the academic semester and will account for 5 ECTS
Studies Abroad Modules
20 ECTS for modules studied at the partner college. In discussion with their academic coordinator in DkIT and the host institution, students will select modules in a compatible or comparable area of study.

Assessment Description
The assessment for the module will comprise three parts: (a) students will be required to complete and present a reflective e-portfolio that evaluates their cultural and learning experience through a record of reflective practice uploaded monthly. This will constitute 5 ECTS (b) students will complete a research project, related to one of the modules studied at the host institution, that is submitted and orally defended at the end of the semester. This will constitute 5 ECTS (c) Students will undertake formal examinations in partner colleges. The modules chosen will constitute 20 ECTS.

Reassessment of this module will consist of a repeat examination. It is possible that there will also be a requirement to be reassessed in a coursework element.
