Module Description: |
This module will allow midwives to expand their knowledge, skills and professional behaviours in order to undertake an advanced comprehensive perinatal health assessment. This will include recognition of normal physiology and knowledge and skills related to recognition of deviation / deterioration in maternal / fetal wellbeing, assessment, escalation / referral and care evaluation of acutely ill individuals within perinatal health services.

Critically discuss the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to undertake an advanced comprehensive perinatal health assessment including recognition of normal physiology and appropriate recognition of deviation/deterioration in maternal/fetal wellbeing, escalation and evaluation of care |

Critically review the structure and function of altered anatomical and physiological organ systems in the perinatal period |
MLO3 |
Synthesise new knowledge of conditions that contribute to perinatal morbidity and mortality to enhance advanced assessment and care of individuals in the perinatal period |
MLO4 |
Critically discuss strategies for enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration and communication |
MLO5 |
Demonstrate the ability to undertake an advanced comprehensive perinatal health assessment including the ability to undertake a comprehensive health history |
MLO6 |
Demonstrate the ability to record clinical findings and interpretations (written/oral) accurately and comprehensibly in a clear and relevant manner in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines |
