This module will provide a comprehensive understanding about the profession in nutrition, the separate roles, responsibilities, and expectations of a qualified nutritionist in the field. This module also gives an opportunity for the student to engage with different core competencies by case studies and presentations in nutrition to explore several aspects of the profession.

MLO1 |
Identify professional attributes and behaviours required as a nutritionist professional student. |
MLO2 |
Appraise and evaluate areas of competencies of food, nutritional science, public health nutritionist, sports nutrition. |
MLO3 |
Critically examine the core competency requirements, AfN Standards of Ethics, Conduct and Practice required for a registered associate nutritionist. |
MLO4 |
Prepare your career around the area of interest by organizing their social media, creating a portfolio, enhancing CV and CPD endorsements. |

Module Indicative Content |
Unit 1 – Introduction to professional values and conduct of a nutritionist
Professional regulation and policies, guidelines and standards determined by the association of nutrition (AfN). Professional values, such as integrity, trust, commitment, respect, empathy, confidentiality.

Unit 2 – Professional case studies
Demonstrate different roles and responsibilities having guests speakers in the area of food science, sports nutrition, academia, research, clinical nutritionist, dietician, health promoters and others. Build a CV and an e-portfolio, which will be an academic showcase of different practices carried out to date, including their placement details, past essays, blogs & links to social media pages. Tools for finding work. Smart goals.

Unit 3 – Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Role of CPD endorsements, planning your personal development and aligning your career to one or two areas in nutrition. Professional organisation, reviews career goals and update, MyNutriWeb.
