Module Learning Outcome Description |
MLO1 |
Describe wind resource statistics and evaluate, for example, the energy in turbulent winds and estimate turbulence intensity for a given wind energy site. |
MLO2 |
Formulate theoretical and empirical aerodynamic models of a wind turbine and assess the key performance parameters. |
MLO3 |
Assess the main features of a turbine wake and the factors that affect its evolution and estimate the velocity deficit and levels of turbulence within a wake. |
MLO4 |
Evaluate the statics and dynamics of a wind turbine assembly. |
MLO5 |
Identify and investigate the numerous controllers utilised on wind turbines and wind farms. |
MLO6 |
Develop detailed economic models of wind energy systems and perform assessments of economic performance, such as lifecycle assessment and levelised cost of energy. |
MLO7 |
Critically analyse wind turbine noise, evaluate how much of that noise will reach a receiver and describe the basic aspects of field measurement and prediction methods which are used to assess noise generated by wind turbines. |
