Module Description: The aim of this module is to introduce students to the comparative approach to the study of politics, political systems and institutions.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO2 Assess the distinctions between different systems of governance
MLO3 Evaluate some of the causes and consequences of the spread of liberal democracy
MLO4 Establish the causes and consequences of the endurance of non-democratic regimes
MLO5 Critique the debate around the prospects of world government
