Module Description: |
This course introduces the archaeology of a period that is often forgotten in relation to the perception of archaeology – that of the more recent past 1500AD. The first part of the course will deal with the physical traces associated with the Plantations, the emergence of new towns and the various technological advances and changes in material culture over the period. The landscape changes of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries will also be explored. The second part of the module will look at the emergence of the discipline of industrial archaeology.
