Module Description: The aim of this module is to allow students demonstrate their understanding of democracy as a political concept, its practical content, spread and contemporary challenges.
 
Module Learning Outcome
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO1 Compare and contrast the models of citizenship derived from Greek and Roman practices
MLO2 Evaluate the consequences of equating the demos with the ethnos
MLO3 Assess Marshall's three domains of citizenship and their contemporary relevance
MLO4 Assess the campaigns to secure democratic participation
MLO5 Identify and explain differences between liberal and illiberal democracies
