Module Description: This module provides a broad survey of the cultural, political, religious, economic, social and intellectual forces that shaped Europe in the early modern period. Focusing on key areas such as Renaissance, Reformation and Counter-Reformation, Conquest and Colonisation, Rebellion, Revolution and State Formation, students will be introduced to key concepts in the history of Europe. Taking a chronological and thematic approach, students will be encouraged to engage with this history through focused lectures, directed readings and primary source materials that will cultivate an understanding of the period.

Module Summary
This module provides a broad survey of the cultural, political, religious, economic, social and intellectual forces that shaped Europe in the early modern period. Focusing on key areas such as Renaissance, Reformation, Rebellion, Revolution and State Formation, students will be introduced to key concepts in the history of Europe.
