Module Description: The aim of this module is to introduce students to some key historical, philosophical and methodological early childhood education theory.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO2 Compare philosophies from the most utilised early childhood education methodologies
MLO3 Discuss the history and formation of early childhood education in Ireland
MLO4 Evaluate some theories of play
MLO5 Apply some principles of Aistear and Síolta to commonly used EC Education Programmes in Ireland
