Theories and models of abuse. Prevalence of abuse. Types of abuse. The impact of abuse across the lifespan.
UNIT TWO: Contemporary Issues within Domestic Abuse
Factors associated with abuse. Relationship between abuse and physical, mental and sexual health. Understanding cultural perspectives of abuse. Socio-economic costs of abusive relationships. Social change.
UNIT THREE: Professional, Ethical and Legal Practice.
Ethical and legal context of domestic abuse. Recognising abuse. Referral Pathways. Personal boundaries, professionalism and conflict management. Coercive control. Motivational Interviewing. Reflective practice. Trauma informed care. Self-care. Risk assessment. Domestic abuse outcome evaluation. Child Protection. Report writing for file, child protection and court referral. Inter-agency collaborative work.
