Module Description: This module will facilitate the student to develop skills to be able to foster language and communication skills in children under 6 years which will facilitate their communication with both adults and peers and support their developing literacy. These skills will help prevent language delays in at risk children and second-language learners; provide intervention for those with language delays and language enrichment for typically developing children.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

MLO2 Discuss the stages of communication and identify a child’s developmental stage.
MLO3 Choose and apply a variety of stimulation techniques to foster communication, play, peer interaction and early literacy.
