Evaluate the professional regulations and guidelines underpinning the safe prescribing of medicinal preparations including medication error and near miss. |
MLO2 |
Discuss professional accountability and responsibility as it pertains to the principles of the prescribing process and medication management. |
MLO3 |
Discuss prescribing policies in the context of the wider health system with a particular emphasis on cost – benefit analyses and the principles of pharmaco-economics. |
MLO4 |
Show understanding of the legislation for nursing/midwifery prescribing and medication management. |
MLO5 |
Demonstrate understanding of legal liability and clinical indemnity for prescribing in the context of the expanded nurse/midwife role. |
MLO6 |
Discuss the relevant ethical principles which guide prescribing practice. |
MLO7 |
Discuss the importance of documentation/record keeping with regard to medication management and prescribing. |
MLO8 |
Complete a draft of their collaborative practice agreement. |
