Educational Aim of Programme The aim of this programme is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design and develop digital assets for computer animation production and to evaluate and manage these assets in a production pipeline. The course is developed with the support of a range of companies and organisations working in the field of animation production. The ever expanding animation industry requires graduates with the necessary technical knowledge and transferable skills to work within the Digital Animation Production sector in Ireland and beyond.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

On successful completion of this programme the learner should be able to :

PLO1 Demonstrate expert knowledge of advanced concepts or specialist areas in the following areas: Animation Production Pipeline, Storytelling, 3D Computer Animation, User Experience Design (UXD), Sound Design and Film Techniques and VFX Compositing and Mathematics;
PLO2 Demonstrate the complexities of theory and practice in the field of 3D Computer Animation, including state-of-the-art technology;
PLO3 Deploy appropriate theory, practices and tools for the specification, design, implementation and evaluation of 3D Computer Animation
PLO4 Manage a 3D Computer Animation project throughout all stages of the design and development lifecycle;
PLO5 Apply best practice in a range of real-world contexts specifically related to 3D Computer Animation Technologies;
PLO6 Take significant responsibility for the work of individuals and groups; lead and initiate activity
PLO7 Manage one's own learning and development, including time management and organisational skills.
